MY BELOVED AMORSIKIS

My beloved Amorsikis,

    

            If you are reading this, then it means that we have reached the final days not only of our senior year but also of our entire high school life. What a great journey it has been especially with all of you wondrous people along in the ride. Now, we present you this blog as proof of the legendary journey we all have survived.

           Through the months, we have gone through a whole lot of activities in our English class. Whether it be presentations of various stories, environmental campaigns, play adaptations, job fairs or talent shows, you name it, we’ve done it! There are also out-of-school competitions we Amorsikis have also proved our prowess in, such as quiz bees, orations, jazz chants, spelling bees and even in campus journalism. This only proves to show that our class of IV-Amorsolo is a force not to be reckoned with!

           Just like how this blog was created, I know that we all have exerted a lot of effort in all of those said activities. So I suppose that it is only fair to commend all of you for your endeavors. Good job everyone! Give yourselves a round of applause. And keep all of those characteristics which make you the kind of person you are intact.

            Enough chit-chat, I won’t keep you any longer. Here is the fruit of our hardwork, of our year-long experiences, and of all those ups and downs that we have been through. Enjoy this publication, as you have enjoyed your stay in the class of IV-Amorsolo.

JAZZ CHANT

AMORSOLO REiGNS iN 2011 SPEECH FEST

When it rains, it rains like crazy!

          Being the cream of the crop among all of the Congressionalian Seniors, it is expected of our section to excel in all fields of extra-curricular activities. And we did exactly that! But if you’re uncertain in believing, then see the proof. Here’s just one of the competitions IV-Amorsolo has participated in, and prevailed.

           Last November 16, 2011, Mike Alconaba, Loui Francisco, Josiah Hiponia, Gerald Rabanzo, Carlo Villamor, Yiyet Alvarez, Jonnalyn Cruz, Celestine Eulin, Jomariz Galinato, and Mikee Villaluna joined the Jazz Chant Contest in the 2011 Division English Speech Festival held at Dasmarinas North National High School. With their vigorous and dynamic routine, they chanted their way through the hearts of the judges and were proclaimed champion, winning over 8 other schools in the Division of Dasmarinas City.

           Also, Johnas Escobar and Josiah Hiponia participated in the English Quiz Bee and Oration Contest in the said Speech Festival respectively. 

TELL-TALE HEART

TELL TALE HEART: Incomparable presentation ever staged

Could you imagine horror into real? That’s what the Tell-tale heart production made when it was staged in the room of IV-Amorsolo. It was the section’s first ever presentation this school year that was performed by John Benjamin Fresnido as the first person narrator and Gerald Rabanzo who acted out the whole story together with Christopher Tiamson , Jan Alexis Templonuevo, John Carlo Villamor who were the policemen , and Daniel Abriz as the old man. The story was written by Edgar Allan Poe.

It was during the first subject when the preparation of set began while the actors were working with their costumes, make-ups and their scripts. The actors, props and set were vintage-looking to make it more realistic.

“True, nervous. Very dreadfully nervous.” That was really what the audiences, who were the IV-Amorsolo and IV-Tolentino felt during the play. Spectators were really caught by the acts that made them shake and scream into terror. The production that was assigned by Ms. Madel Regis was really geared up and planned to make a dark and terrifying set which mainly adds realistic effects to the presentation.

While the play is being staged, the whole room was dark and only the actors were lighted by simple flashlights. It was Benjamin who was telling the story and Gerald that acts it out. Together with the sound effects, every scene were really bloodcurdling most specially the part when the old man was being murdered.

After the presentation was staged, actors, together with the production team, felt really fulfilled and happy about the reviews and compliments given by the viewers. True, it was really the best group presentation that was ever performed by IV-Amorsolo.

WORLD READING DAY

WORLD READING DAY 2012

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted in the year 1965 the International Literacy Day in the year with a new mission. The movement aimed to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. 

And as part of this movement, Amorsolo students had their version inside the class during their English period. Each created a circle, gathered their reading materials and started sharing their thoughts and gathered pieces of information with others. 

But despite varied efforts, literacy remains an elusive target. Some 793 million adults lack minimum literacy skills which mean that about one in six adults is still not literate in terms of learning. Moreover, 97.4 million children are out-of-school and many more attend irregularly. And even worse, 85 percent of the world's illiterate population dwells in these countries, and two-thirds are fairer sex.That’s why the section joined the movement to break the collective chain of illiteracy. 

BE REMINDED - BE GREEN MINDED

AMORSOLO THINKS GREEN

1. Armed with gardening tools and willingness to help our mother earth, students from IV-Amorsolo conducted an environmental program entitled “ Be Reminded, Be Green- Minded.”- that made the vacant lots inside the school more useful. 

    Amorsolos, spearheaded by Ms. Madel Regis, English teacher planted trees , plowed lands and watered plants around Congressional National High School premises. 

    Ms. Madel Regis observed that effects of global warming are frequently witnessed not only in some part of the world but in our country as well, which inspired her to initiate the program. 

    After the program, IV-Amorsolo said that experiences like this really helped them realize the good feeling of having a part in saving the planet from the effects of climate change.

IDEAL WORLD

This Ideal World that I made is for my bestfriend , Mhiel Genova. She is a 100% fan of the TV series in ABS-CBN , the “ Walang Hanggan”. And she  loves Coco Martin a lot and wanted to see him personally. So  I asked her. “ What is the Ideal place you wanted when you had the chance to see him ?” She described the place with so much effort . She wanted a clean and peaceful place. So I had my imagination and thought that she really wanted the cemetery ( clean and peaceful, right ? XD). But as I make up my mind, I found out that maybe she wanted the place like in the said series wherein it is a province with innumerable mountains and trees and beside, the clean rivers connected with a wonderful bridge and there, they will see the perfect waves of water. It is definitely an ideal world for me. A very romantic place where everybody can visit and express their ENDLESS LOVE.
